Detox Diet Plan

A Detox Diet Plan That Works

A detox diet plan has nothing to do with losing weight. Its purpose is to give the body a break, to allow the digestive system rest and eliminate all those toxins that got accumulated because of a hectic lifestyle, pollution or not so healthy eating habits. This article covers the basics of a detox diet plan: when to start it, for how long it should last, what to eat and what to avoid.

The Planning Stage

A detox program should last between one and two weeks. It’s best to choose a time of year when there are no holidays or special occasions that may determine you to fall into temptation and give up the plan before you get to see any results. Another thing to keep in mind is that detoxification may trigger some side effects such as headaches or digestive symptoms, therefore it’s best to avoid those periods when you are very busy at work or have important projects going on.

Foods To Eat During The Detox Period

You should avoid all irritants such as coffee, alcohol and tobacco. Besides, stay away from dairy, meat and grains. Your diet should consist of fresh fruit and vegetables. If you can, you should choose organic produce. Eggs are also fine, but buy free-range ones and limit yourself to only two per week. Salads are very good, but don’t use any ready-made salad dressing. Use some extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar or lemon juice instead. Drink plenty of water. Green tea is also very good for you and it should be part of any detox diet plan.

The Diet Plan To Detox Your Body And Mind

Start each morning with a glass of freshly squeezed orange and lemon juice. If you want, you can use some honey to make it sweeter, but refrain from using sugar by all means.

The next step in your detox routine should be exercise. Yoga is great, because it helps both your body and your mind. If you don’t know how to do it, do a search for Sun Salutations A and B.

They are very easy to perform, even if you are a bit “rusty”. Start with three of each every morning, then gradually increase to 10.

Eat your food raw, if possible. Make nourishing salads from raw nuts and almonds, vegetables and fruits. Grapes are excellent, so choose them if they are easy to find where you live. By avoiding the cooking process, your foods will retain more of their nutrients and enzymes.

Detox Diet Plan

Eat at least five small meals a day, rather than two or three large ones. Chew the food very well and avoid doing other things while eating. Mindfulness is very important, so try to always focus on the eating process and chase away all other thoughts.Drink plenty of water, especially during the first half of the day. Herbal teas are an excellent choice, too, but don’t use any sugar or artificial sweeteners.Beware of any weakness symptoms you may experience, especially over the first 3-4 days. If you notice odd reactions of your body, stop the detox process and talk to your doctor about it as soon as possible.
